Have you always wanted to try your hand at baking but have had one too many disasters in the kitchen? If so, this article is for people just like you! There are certainly some incredibly complex baking recipes out there, but you don't need to put your culinary skills to the test to whip up some tasty baked treats. Those new to baking will be relieved to know that some of the most delectable confections come from rather modest formulas. Throughout this post, we're going to dive into some of the easiest recipes that yield the most delicious results.
Making scones is very beginner-friendly, as it takes just a handful of ingredients and usually only takes around 20 minutes of your time.
For a batch of six to eight scones, you'll need:
•350 grams of flour
•1 teaspoon of baking powder (only if you don't use self-raising flour)
•Pinch of salt
•40 grams of caster sugar
•90 grams of butter
•180 milliliters of milk
•A dash of vanilla extract
•1 egg
•First, you must preheat the oven to 220°C or 425°F.
•Combine the sieved flour, baking powder, caster sugar, and a pinch of salt into a bowl.
•Once stirred well, add in the butter and rub it in with your hands until the mixture becomes crumbly.
•Next, pour in the milk and vanilla extract and blend, ensuring the mix isn't too wet or dry.
•Roll out the mixture on a clean, floured surface until it's around 1 inch thick before using a cookie cutter to divide it into individual scones.
•Place some baking parchment on your baking tray, dust it with flour, and place the scones on top. Beat the egg and apply it with a pastry brush as a glaze.
•Cook the scones for around 8 to 10 minutes, then leave to stand on a wire tray until completely cooled.
Muffins also require minimal fuss and are typically good to go in less than 45 minutes. We've used blueberries in this case, but you can swap it for a fruit of your choice or even with chocolate chips.
This recipe is made for muffin trays with space for 12 pieces and requires the following:
•250 grams of flour
•1 teaspoon of baking powder (only if you don't use self-raising flour)
•150 grams of caster sugar
•2 eggs
•100 grams of softened butter
•30 milliliters of milk
•A dash of vanilla extract
•150 grams of blueberries
•Preheat your oven to 200°C or 400°F.
•Add 12 muffin cases to your baking tray.
•Sieve your flour into a bowl, adding baking powder if necessary.
•In a separate bowl, thoroughly combine the butter and sugar by hand or using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and creamy.
•Next, add the egg and blend together before incorporating the milk and vanilla extract.
•Place the flour into the same bowl as the wet mixture and stir until all the ingredients have come together.
•You'll then add the blueberries, mix well, and scoop mixture into each of the 12 cases.
•Cook for around 20 minutes or until the muffins have turned golden in color. Stick a wooden toothpick into the center, and if it comes out clean or with hardly any crumbs, the muffins are ready.
A firm favorite among pretty much anyone with a sweet tooth, brownies are surprisingly simple to prepare.
The type of tray you have and the size you cut your brownies will determine how many pieces you get from this recipe. With these ingredients, you should come out with around 20 standard-sized brownies:
•110 grams of plain flour
•300 grams of caster sugar
•40 grams of cocoa powder
•250 grams of dark chocolate
•100 grams of milk chocolate chips
•200 grams of unsalted butter
•4 eggs
•A pinch of salt
•A dash of vanilla extract
•Preheat your oven to 180°C or 350°F and line your baking tray with baking parchment.
•Chop up the butter and dark chocolate into small pieces, place them in the microwave, and stir every 15 to 30 seconds until they're both fully melted.
•Leave this mixture to rest while combining the caster sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract together in another bowl. Once it has a smooth, thick consistency, place the contents into the same bowl as the butter and dark chocolate mix.
•Add the sieved flour, cocoa powder, and a sprinkling of salt.
•When everything is well mixed, fold in the chocolate chips before evenly spreading the mixture on the baking tray.
•Cook for around 30 minutes, at which point the top should be shiny and slightly crisp.
You can't go wrong with some banana bread, and it's even better with the addition of chunky chocolate chips.
For a regular-sized loaf, you should have:
•3 large ripe bananas
•250 grams of flour
•1 teaspoon of baking powder (only if you don't use self-raising flour)
•200 grams of sugar
•120 grams of unsalted butter
•2 eggs
•150 grams of milk or dark chocolate chips
•A pinch of salt
•A dash of vanilla extract
•Preheat your oven to 160°C or 325°F and grease your bread pan with butter.
•Mash the bananas thoroughly and add the eggs once beaten.
•Combine this mixture with butter melted in the microwave, but be sure to stir the butter frequently to avoid burning.
•Once blended, add the sieved flour, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract and stir well.
•Finally, pour in the chocolate chips until evenly dispersed throughout the mixture.
•Carefully place the mix into your bread pan, sprinkling any remaining chocolate chips on top.
•Bake in the oven for at least an hour, using a clean toothpick to test if the loaf is cooked through. If there's any wet mixture on the toothpick, the bread will need a few more minutes.
At this stage, we're hoping we've instilled some confidence in you to give these dreamy delicacies a shot. Even if you're a natural in the kitchen, these are fantastic options if you plan to do some baking with the little ones or just fancy trying something sweet, quick, and easy!
